Video rendering error: -50 and FCP never stops rendering

I applied the HDR plugin from crumple pop to all of my frames and then I tried to apply a "frame fixer" or fix a tilted frame. It didn't work and I undid the command. Then I waited for everything to render. There are no more red bars above any of the frames, but every 20 seconds or so the background task shows that something is rendering for about 3 seconds, then goes away. I left it running all night and it just rendered all through the night like that. I shut down FCP a few times and restarted to no avail.

Now I also can't seem to share the file. When I do it starts slow, gets about 15-20% of the way through and then I get an error that the "share failed" due to "Video rendering error: -50".

Can anyone help me figure out what is going wrong?

Thank you.

FCP 10.1.1 on a Mac laptop 2.4 Ghz i7 8GB. My trial ended and this is literally the first project that I have run with the program after purchasing it. Perhaps something is wrong with the purchased version of the program?

I just started a new project and and copy and pasting each bit in piece by piece trying to find the point at which the symptom present themselves again.

The usual first thing is to delete preferences with this free tool www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/

and or delete your current FCPX with this tool www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/ and then download from AppStore a fresh copy. It worth try this. But you are not alone with this problem.

Yuck, that sounds like a lot of work, but glad to have the option.

As I went through each frame, I luckily found a single offender. The only things slightly off on this frame is that I applied slow motion with optical flow AND ken burns. I've had a few chokes and crashes with this, but never a repetitive rendering loop.

When I went to the original project and deleted this frame, the mess stopped. I added it back in, redid my effects, and all is well (for the moment).

I would still like to figure out WHY this was happening.

I'm also curious if there is a better troubleshooting method. I was hoping to find a button to tell me WHAT is rendering, rather than have to go through the scientific method to uncover it. That would allow me to troubleshoot things much faster than scrubbing my software and reinstalling/redoing my project.

Thanks.

By removing FCPX and reinstall does not have any effects on your current project. And this is actually very quick process. All your media and libraries are intact. But I am glad you solved this problem.

Be sure you've removed the trial version of FCPX first, after installing the paid version.

Sorry I'm a little late to the game, so this probably won't help. Once you have determined that your project is not corrupt by creating a new project and copying and pasting the contents of the troubled project into it, try the following. It seems like it would take a long time, but you'd be surprised at how quickly you can isolate the bad frame this way. I had this same problem, and I found the fastest way to track down the frame was to disable background render and try to share a small range of the timeline one section at a time. Share the first 10-20% then the next and next, until you get to the section with the bad frame. Then you narrow it down, if the project is small enough just try to share one clip at a time. Once you find the bad clip, delete it and make it new from scratch. If you have the same problem with a new clip, that means that some combo of filters is probably going wrong. You can either treat your clip differently (substitute a filter), or apply one effect, export that one clip as master, and then add that clip to the timeline and put the rest of the effects and transforms on it.

I hope this helps someone, this drove me nuts the first time it happened to me.
