HI,
I am constantly losing render when I reopen projects.
It hapens on all my systems (MBP retina 2012, iMac 2013, MacPro 2010)
I am using FCPX10.1.1 with Mavericks (10.9.1).
Is this happening to any of you?
Any solution?
Thanks,
Eugen

Hi Eugen,

If you do a lot of re-rendering on the same clips you should regularly delete your unused Project render files. Select the Project and choose File > Delete Project Render Files > Unused. If you don't do this FCPX can get confused as to which version of the render file it should link to when you re-open the Project, and you may lose some render files.

Also, it is advised to leave Background Rendering OFF unless you really need it.

Thank you Ronny,
I'll try it tomorrow, hope that it works. Anyway, if fcpx get confused by which version of the render file is the last it has a problem which has to be solved in future upgrades.
In the same time if this is happening to me only then I have a issue with my systems.

I hope it helps. You are not the only one, there have been some threads about this before.

And this is not strictly an FCPX issue either. In fact FCPX seems to handle render files better than any other NLE. FCP7, Avid and Premiere Pro CC lose render file connections much more frequently. Just google "missing render files premiere pro" and you will be amazed how many posts you will find.

In any NLE the best way of preventing losing render files is to only render a clip when it is strictly required for smooth playback. When you run FCPX on a fast enough system rendering is not really required, except when working on complex compositions. Our editors only render when required, they never use Background rendering and they always purge the unused render files before closing a project. And I can say we hardly lose any connections when re-opening projects.
