Dead Pixel Repair suggestions?

I was looking for thoughts on the best dead pixel fixers. I just finished a day long multi-cam 5 camera 6 mic shoot (use the new Zoom H6 BTW, it was fantastic). 3 of the cameras brought by other shooters had multiple dead pixels so I've got a lot of fixing to do.

I tried the demo of Digital Haven's Reincarnation X (which seems to be the most sophisticated is FXPlug based, no key framing needed)

www.digital-heaven.co.uk/dh_reincarnation

as well as Free "Pain Clone" by a fellow fcp.co member. (which is a simple clone, requires key framing)

www.fcp.co/forum/utility/19259-point-clo...-pixel-remover#40759

And then there is Tokyo reanimator, (which I can't tell if it is "smart" or a simple cloner, looks like it requires key framing)

Any thoughts?

Have you looked into SliceX with Mocha tracking? Seems to be one of the best out there for this kind of work.

CHV has a good dead-pixel fixer. The controls take a bit of getting used to and you need to make sure that your video doesn't have any scaling applied when you mark the dead pixel but once you get used to it it's fine. He bundles it with other filters that are pretty much only good for analog tape artifacts but if you ask him he'll sell you the dead pixel filter as a stand-alone.

Here is his website:

To prevent the need to keyframe, couldn't you correct the dead pixels on each clip (assuming the dead pixel is not moving) before creating a multicam?

Oh they key framing is a different issue. Repairing a dead pixel on a moving shot is much more complicated than it first seems.

Take a look here:

Do the dead pixels on your project move?

The dead pixels don't move. But the background behind them does move so you would have to adjust the cloning position with a simple cloner (as I noted above.)

I use Tokyo ReAnimator as my 5D MkII now exhibits a couple of hot pixels in low light conditions.
