locating external drive

I am a bit new to the updated version of fcpx.
It used to locate and show the external hard drive and the projects and events that had been made there, now I can't locate it.

I need to import new footage to a new project and event and store it on the external drive. Could somebody give me some directions of how to do that?

I have these two published articles.

Apple has this doc posted, too.
