Match colour within a clip?

I'm editing a music video and the makeup of the lead singer was really bad, way off his natural skin hue. This is causing a lot of trouble. Also because it was quite unevenly applied, ie there no make-up on his neck making the difference very obvious. Been trying to colour correct in in various ways using masks, colour ranges etc etc. but cannot get it to look good. There's no way to use some for of colour sample and then apply that to a correction, or sort of the match colour but within a clip? At this point I'm willing to try anything (that doesn't cost money, cause in have none).

Can you post a sample to show how bad it is? Sounds like something you'll need Resolve to really do well.
