Paste attributes window gone.. again
was there any work around for this?
also shift z will not always work to fit the timeline, you need to use the slider to apply focus, then shift z will work.. intermittent.
thanks

Close FCPX and launch it again. Does that help?

I though there was a workaround for this that i read somewhere.. i thought it had something to do with audio/effects browser/window open... or something like that
thanks

Also check your Activity Monitor. When FCPX gets low on available memory it can get slow responding.

Have you changed the Pan mode on the clip you are trying to copy? This used to be a bug in 10.0.9., could be it still exists in 10.1.
In 10.0.9 if the file you were trying to copy from had its Pan mode set to anything other than "NONE" you could not copy/past attributes from the source file.

Think that caused it?
If so, this must be intermittent because I have done this before in 10.1.1

Good to hear Paste Attributes is working again for you. Often a simple restart can solve these minor quirks.
Happy editing!

Hi Ronny,
Are you sure this has been fixed in all cases? I just tested copying a clip where I put the pan on "dialogue" while it also has a Loudness audio enhancement. When I try to paste attributes on another clip, the window doesn't show up. Now if I set the pan mode to "none," and then copy and paste attributes, the window does show up. The clips are normal ProRes422 clips, and this is a new library/project created in 10.1.1.

What exactly do you mean by:
Try this: before you shut down FCPX delete all unused Render files in your Project.
Loosing rendered files on re-opend projects is starting to get annoying...
thanks

You should regularly clear your unused Project Render files. When you re-render something in FCPX it never deletes or overwrites your old render files. That's why when you perform an Undo you never lose your renders on a clip. Or when you change the duration of a clip through trimming, you don’t need to re-render the part that has already been rendered. All this is great.
Side-note: when you work natively with long-GOP media you always will have to re-render when you make a change to the clip, due to the GOP-structure of your media. This is one of the many disadvantages of working natively with long-GOP.
While preserving unused Render files is a big time-saver for editing, the disadvantage is that after multiple re-rendering you get a stack of old unused render files inside your Render folder. Not only do these redundant Render files make your project size much bigger, they also can conflict with the current Render files if they overlap. When you close the app and you re-open it this sometimes can cause Render files to get lost.
That's why it's a very good procedure, especially if you re-render a lot or if you have rendered Compound Clips, to delete your unused Render files before you close FCPX. If you leave Background rendering on (which I never advise) constantly deleting unused Render files is a must.
To delete unused Render files: select the Project and choose File > Delete Project Render Files > Unused Render Files Only.
This is a common procedure in our shop and we never, ever lose any Render files when re-opening a Project.
