I'm starting a job this week shot on F55. Green-screen. DoP is asking me if I want the footage with look baked in or the raw low-contrast version. We can't just switch color-space in X for F55 like we can for Red and Alexia footage, can we?

For anyone who's worked with it- which way should I tell him to do it?

Thanks.

Actually, yes you can. You want the RAW low contrast version. Then look in to both LUT Utility and FilmConvert Pro. I use both with BlackMagic Cinema cameras and am very happy with them.

You mean the Color Grading Cental LUT utility?

So basically via plugins. I guess the distinction between that and "native" LUT control is pretty much nil. Does LUT utility work in Motion?

What you're talking about is part of the Quicktime codec library architecture. Apple lets camera manufacturers write their own plugins for this, rather than run the horrible race of trying to keep up with every new version of every new codec those guys come out with ever couple of months. For example, you have to go to the Red Cinema web site, download and install the Red Quicktime Support plugin. Sony, Blackmagic, and others will need to write the Quicktime codec for their own proprietary codecs.

Thanks guys. He's going to give it to me in S Log-2, and I've downloaded the LUT Plugin from CGC.
