10.1.1 big library, loads of long projects - HOW TO HIDE?

Hey,

I am editing multiple documentaries and am doing a lot of versioning of my projects while editing. I am working with one single library with about 80 hours of rushes.
The more projects (45 to 90 minutes) I have, the slower the startup goes as FCPX 10.1.1 is loading all the available projects in the Library. This takes a lot of time.
As well sometimes during sharing projects it happens again and is slowing my work down considerably.
In 10.0.9 I could hide those versioned, inactive projects, and unhide them, when I needed to go back to an older version of the edit.
Any Ideas?

Thanks a lot

You will have create a new library and copy the projects to that library. The first time you do that might take some time. FCP X will make a sim link to every clip used in the project for the new event so you wont be doubling up on media.

Then you can load and close the library that has your older/alternate versions. This should speed up FCPX.

Thanks!
I tried that already, and aborted because it took some time (deadline was approaching)

But if it only takes time to create the sim links the first time and are then recognized with the other projects which are basically linking to the same files, this could be it!
I will give it a try!
Thanks again!

This workflow works fine.
And is actually faster than I thought. I now have a backup library with my versioned projects which I can close and open if needed.
And my actual working library only has my "active" projects. MUCH FASTER.
