Trouble importing AVCHD clips from Canon VIXIA HF G20 to FCPX 10.1.1

Hello All,

This is my first post here.
I have FCPX running on a mac pro (2008)
I never had issues importing videos from my Canon Vixia HF G20 before I upgraded to 10.1 and now 10.1.1
After the upgrade I would connect my camera to my mac and try to import the AVCHD clips and it would almost always fail, so then I tried directly attaching the SD card to a Card reader, this worked on and off, but after I went to 10.1.1, (hoping it would fix this) it seems to always fail! The only way now to import any videos is to open the AVCHD clips in quciktime and save them as .mov files then import!! this is really driving me crazy and adding a ton of time to my processing. If I would have known I would have had so many import issues I think I would have just kept my original FCPX without upgrading to 10.1

If anyone has a fix for this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

Paul.

Hi Paul, and welcome.

I have seen one post reporting the same issue.

One thing you can do is refresh your FCPX preferences and see if this solves your issue.

Have you had problems with different cards on 10.1 or just this one? If i's only one card you might consider a corrupt clip on the card.

If none of the above helps use the feedback option in Final Cut Pro > Provide Final Cut Pro Feedback to report this to Apple ASAP. I cannot find any solution for this and I don't have a Vixia to test.

Thanks for the quick response Ronny.
I even tried moving the files over to my hard drive and it still fails importing the AVCHD files.
I will try to delete the FCPX preferences and see if that helps
Not sure how to do that, but I'm sure I can find it in google somewhere.

thanks again,

Paul.
