What is the best way to move a library to a new drive?

Friends,

I recently purchased an 8TB G-Tech RAID external drive. It's my intent to make this my 'edit drive.' Therefore, I want to move my current Library off its current drive and onto this drive. I read that, the best way to do this is just to use the Finder and drag it over to the new drive. So I did this last night. Took about 2 hours. But then today, it wouldn't open the new library. It tries to, but after reading my projects for about 15 mins, it stops responding and I have to force quit.

So I then figured that maybe the smarter way to do this, was to move the Library from within the FCX interface. Only, when I try to select this option, it's dithered out.

Can anyone offer some advice?

Make sure the drive is formatted properly. Mac OS Extended (Journaled) It may be the drive was formatted wrong, or somehow messed up out of the box...

Nah, wasn't a drive format thing. Turned out to just be some finicky trial and error. Had to use the Option + click to open trick on the dock to make sure it wasn't trying to open my previous / identical library. Once I only got it opening the new library, it took around 5 force quits of hanging up on me, but finally worked. I then just had to relink some files and it's all up to speed now.
