If your selection is a complete clip and there are no other clips in the same angle (as in the case you are showing) you can just use "Sync to Monitoring Angle" instead.

Does anyone know of a solution to this? I have a project with hours worth of footage that has all been adjusted so deleting it and reimporting it will takes several days worth of work.

Hi Thomas, welcome to the forum.
What exactly is the problem you have? And why do you think you would need to delete or re-import anything?
Please provide as much information about your issue as you can, preferably adding a screenshot that shows the problem. This makes it much easier for us to help you find a solution.

Thanks!
I've been looking everywhere for a solution to this problem and the only thing I have found is to basically delete everything and start over. Obviously losing all my work and having to do it again with the potential that this problem could come up again isn't a great option. I am having the exact same issue as the original poster, but to give you some background on my current project I have a multicam clip comprised of several different takes of the same performance. The timing isn't exactly the same but the music is, so different portion need to be synced to different portions. The angle editor and the ability to sync individual selections within it is perfect for this. Everything was working fine then all of a sudden with no apparent reason I am no longer able to sync clips the option is greyed out exactly the same as the screenshot in the original post. Below are my screenshots.

"Sync to Monitoring Angle" isn't greyed out in your screenshot. Only "Sync selection to Monitoring Angle" is greyed out, but there are no clips selected in your screenshot. So you can actually stil sync to the monitoring angle. Am I missing something?

The second to last clip in the second angle is selected in the screenshot. I have tried selecting any variety of clips from any of the angles as well as changing the monitoring angle. No matter what I do I cannot get the "sync selection to monitoring angle" to appear. Also the "sync to monitoring angle" while it wouldn't work for my purposes does not work. When selected it asks me to place the playhead where I would like the sync to occur and press done rather than syncing based on audio.

My bad, I did not notice the selected clip because it is highlighted in white instead of yellow.
I cannot reproduce this problem here, everything works fine:
So we will have to find out why this does not work for you.
What version of FCP X are you using and what OS are you running?
Have you been able to sync the other clips in that angle to the monitoring angle, and only this one does not work?

I'm using El Capitan 10.11.1 and FCPX 10.2.2
I have tried syncing various different selections throughout all of the different angles to see if it was something with a specific clip. I also have tried changing the monitoring angle to see if that was the issue. I worked on this project wishing the angle editor for about a day before it started doing this, it was able to sync just fine and then suddenly stopped working.

Okay, thank you for the information.
So Angle 1 and Angle 3 are synchronized, by you haven't been able to synchronize any of the clips that are in the second angle, is that correct?

When I created the multicam clip it synced everything as best it could. Ultimately I need the first half synced to angle 1 (I already did this) and then the second half everything synced to angle 3. I have tried syncing different selections in every angle and changed the monitoring angle just to see if I can get it to work. It just doesn't sync anything anymore.

Thank you. Things are getting clearer now.
So the first half of the clips in Angle 2 have been synchronized to Angle 1 without any problems.
Now you want to synchronize the second half of the clips in Angle 2 to Angle 3, and this does not work.
Is that correct?

That is correct, that is what I'm trying to do. At this point I can't get anything to sync anymore at all though. Even if I move a clip I previously was able to sync it won't allow me to re-sync it.

Okay, now we have isolated the problem.
Try this:
Create a new Angle 4.
Move the clips from Angle 2 that you cannot sync to Angle 3 (the second half) into Angle 4.
Then make Angle 3 the Monitoring Angle, select one of the clips in Angle 4 and see if you can synchronize this clip to Angle 3.
Does this work?

I'm away from my computer today so I will try this later, however I tried something very similar to this only instead of moving the clip I copied it and pasted the copy into angle 4 as well as also bringing new clips into it.

I tried moving the clips to angle 4. I am still unable to get the "sync selection to monitoring angle".
At this point I am just assuming this is a bug in FCPX. I have started over and I'm just going to split the project up into segments so that if this happens again it won't affect the whole thing. I will keep the multicam clip to try out any other ideas to fix this.
