Hi there,

Just a very quick one. I've tried searching for this but don't really know what search term(s) to use.

I am a returning user to FCP X from PremPro and am obviously finding little quirks that I just need to get used to.

One thing I noticed last night was after having placed a sound effect on the timeline that was linked to the storyline I added a simple fade in fade out transition (cmd T) and it placed the fades and the sound effect in it's own kind of container. What is happening here and should it do it?

I also noticed that if I delete the sound effect, the fade in and fade out remain inside this self contained box.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Yes. It's a secondary storyline. connected clips are not linked to each other in anyway. the secondary storyline creates the linkage.

What is this "sleep" you speak of?
