Ejecting SD cards?

Every time I want to eject an SD card after importing som footage I get the "cannot eject cause the drive is used by Final Cut Pro" message. Ejecting it in the import window in FCPX does nothing. So I either have to just pull the card, only to be greeted with the "card not ejected properly" message, or quit FCPX. Very annoying when importing from multiple cards.

Anyone else seeing this and know of a solution?

This is using the internal card slot on my Retina MBP.

Why not making a backup of the cards on secure drive first?
I would recommend that.

You can use a little free utility of mine.

It's a known issue when you are importing straight from a card, there have been quite some reports about it. It can indeed be very annoying when you have to import from a large number of cards and you have to quit FCPX to safely eject every imported card. Use the feedback page!

What version of the software are you using? I assume you're waiting until after the application has finished copying media off the card.

Thanks, Ronny, will send feedback. It's a tiny detail and not a show stopper but still annoying.

Yes, of course I wait until FCPX is done importing before trying to eject. This has been in all versions as far as I remember.

I have seen the same thing with Compact Flash cards from my Canon XF100 as well. As has been suggested, I now archive the card with Canon's XF Utility and import from there to FCPX. But I also just posted feedback.

my experience as well through 10.0.9 - looked in on this thread to see if it was fixed in 10.1 but looks like its still an issue.

I've been able to eject the card 3-4 times in a row now! Not sure if something happened with 10.1.1 or if it's just a fluke ;)

I've been able to eject SD cards in 10.1 after import without closing the app. They are canon 6D and 70D cameras if that makes any difference.
