Lasso-select Secondary Storylines

Hi guys, I've been using FCPX for a while now and have gotten very comfortable with the way it works, but there's something I've been wondering about for a long time in terms of the way secondary storylines are selected. Is there a way to lasso-select multiple connected clips AND secondary storylines at the same time so that you can move them? The only way that I've found to do it is to also select the primary where the secondary is connected when you lasso... that way everything can be moved. Instead, what I find that I have to do a lot is alt-select the secondary storyline bars, which could be a pain if there are a lot of separate secondary storylines. Currently, if you drag-select secondaries, it selects the clips INSIDE the secondaries. Is there a mod key that I have to hold down for this to work?
thanks.

The only way I can see it being done is by using the Timeline Index. In here you can select storylines as entire objects by dragging over them.

Just make sure you turn the filter to video only otherwise you'll be grabbing audio as well.
Not ideal but it's the only thing I could get to work.

Thanks, actually I hadn't thought of that. It works, but of course that's very clunky because you have to locate the clips in the list.

I actually think that lasso-select should select the secondaries by default and that you should have to hold down a mod key to select the clips inside. It's just been my experience that you want to select the whole secondary far more often than just the pieces inside, especially when you want to move large sections of clips. Am I crazy or is this what others find?

No I would agree with that thought too. Especially when you want to move a large block forward a second or two. I miss the track forward back tool sometimes.

For not having to locate the storylines among others clips in the TL index, you can filter by typing the first letters of "storyline" in the search box.
