TIL: Multicam keeps the original fps! was created by Karsten Schlüter
ok, maybe you pros say "yawn, no news!" but for me this is an interesting observation:
I'm using half a dozen cheap cams simultaneously - therefor, my sources are a very weird mix of formats. And: I like to 'conform speed' frequently to create smooth slow-mows.
My Projects are regular 720/25, my main cam spits out 1080/50p… perfect for my needs = the higher res allows me to re-frame my shots, I'm a lousy camera-man, sometimes I miss the the action (recording soccer).
To speed-up my editing, I considered to use Multi-Cam: put all sources into one new Multi-Cam-clip - everything is in synch - nice.
But…
What happens to my 'HFR'-sources?
I made me three demo clips in Motion, three diff. fps, the TC-generator gives each frame a number...
Well, the best happened - nothing!
In the Projects timeline, everything is 25p.
But you can select the individual sections and 'conform speed' - and FCPX indeed grabs the original fps of the very original source.
… I was afraid, the Multicam adopts the Projects fps or the first clips fps or… whatever.
No, MC is wise, it keeps its sources...
and for those who know I claim "compounds are evil" - THIS sort of compounds are not :silly:
