10.1 - Marker Retiming Bug

I found a rather bad bug in 10.1 that I though we should be aware of and perhaps find a workaround. Here is what happens.

- Retiming a bladed portion of a clip that contains markers will "multiply" those markers.

Here are the steps to repeat this:

1. Place several markers on a clip, and then blade a segment of it twice. Notice the count of markers:

2. Retime that segment to any amount. Notice the addition of markers in the timeline index.

Let us know if you have any more insight into this.

I can confirm it places a marker at the end of the clip being retimed. But, not anything that bothers me. It can be deleted. Feedback page time.

Hey Timothy,

Thanks for posting this. I have done some small tests and I can confirm this bug. On my system it only happens when there is a marker after the bladed segment. When there is no marker after the segment everything works fine, but if there IS a marker after the segment FCPX adds one marker at the end of the segment when you retime the segment and sometimes it shows double markers in the index. I don't think there is a workaround, this should be fixed as it did not happen in FCPX 10.0.9 (just tried this as well).

Feedback time :)

I found this as I made about 50 detailed to do markers on a 2 hour clip, and then started chopping it up and retiming. I did the first few todos and then thought, "Wait why are there more todos left than when I started?' ;)

My bet is that the through edit feature has something to do with it. I wonder if it happens on multicam clips or compound clips since those already had through edit indicators.

Nope, it happens on multiclips as well:
