Cannot import 50p

Cannot import 50p was created by Stefan
Hello,
I just got my new Panasonic GH3 and testing it.
I´m a little bit confused. I´m recording mov with 50p. When I check the data via compressor it says the mov has 50fps/Progrssive (screenshot "compressor"). After importing it to FCPX 10.1 the information tab says 50i (see screenshot fcpx-import).
Everything works fine - playback etc. I can create a 50p project and it does the correct playback. I can create a 25p project and do nice slow motion etc.
I´m only confused about the information tab. What is wrong?

It's a little bug in 10.1 with PAL frame rate media. It has no effect on the application and the media.

I am quite sure every HD 50p stream is in fact a 50i stream. So FCPX is correct.
But it has no impact on your footage. Just make sure in the inspector that the fields are set to none or progressive, not upper/lower!

This I don´t understand. I thought there is an essential difference between "p" and "i"?

Generally 50p means 50fps. Usually FCP does not use the term 50i, which is very misleading and actually means 25fps interlaced. FCP uses the more correct term IMO of 25i. In the current version there is a display error. It doesn't effect the media. AFAIK not being a PAL frame rate person.

Stefan: yes, of course there is a difference between 25i/50i or 25p or 50p.
Interlaced means 2 fields per frame at HALF resolution (one field is even lines one is odd lines).
Progressive means 25 full resolution frames per second.
But technically the HD standard demands the stream to be an interlaced stream (but with full resolution frames instead of half resolution fields). This is happening in the background and should´t/doesn´t affect us. Just ignore the 25i
As I said make sure you have no ODD or EVEN field dominance and all will be fine.
I believe FCPX now makes this difference because it is a 4K NLE now and in 4K there is no interlaced standard.
