Automatic Duck for free!

As you may or may not know, Adobe bought out Automatic Duck totally, and their site went down, they stopped supporting/selling their vital Final Cut products. Today they "claim" the site is back up, although for the life of me, I can't get anything but the "we sold our souls to Adobe" news page they put up some time ago. If anyone can get through to a "real" web page, please let me know. These freebies are very valuable to those who still need them.

Automatic Duck news

October 28, 2011

If you missed our mail last month you should check it out as it got a lot of people talking. Today we have a follow-up.

Our web site has relaunched* and while the overall look of the site is similar there is a dramatic difference in how we are distributing our plug-ins.

Starting today Pro Import AE, Pro Import FCP and Pro Export FCP (both versions, for FCP7 and FCPX) are available at no charge. You read this right. Free.

We are unable to provide support at the same level as we have over the years, but we didn't want these plug-ins to go away while they remain useful. So if you can make use of these plug-ins in your projects, enjoy!

Thank you to all of our users, working with you for the last 10 1/2 years was a truly wonderful experience.

- Wes and Harry

And be very aware that these utilities fully support FINAL CUT PRO X now, too! Yep, and free!

I'm seeing 4 products they are giving away on the website, with links. Looks like 1 of them Pro Export FCP 5.0 supports FCPX.

Are you still not seeing the link page, I have attached a screen cap:

Automatic Duck's Pro Export FCP 5.0 for FCPX is now freeware !

www.automaticduck.com/products/download/

It is now possible to export OMF to Pro Tools from FCPX with no additional charge involved.

i downloaded the fcpx version and tried an omf export and importing into soundtrack pro, it worked after playing with the settings

I just asked it to create externally linked aiff media from a sequence with all clips broken if a compound clip and it all came across nicely

FYI, Intelligent Assistant has a utility that translates FCPXML to v.7 XML, but it's $50. Well, guess they're out of the game.

But here's what I'd like y'all do to. Go to their site, tell them that since Automatic Duck is not making the FCP 7 to FCP X utility, will they be doing it after all? They said they weren't because they thought AD was going to do it. I got an email last night from AD saying they will in fact NOT be doing that. I think we can get IA to make one if enough folks ask for it.

They say that In theory you should be able to import AAF into other systems, but Automatic Duck only supports translation to Pro Tools. Download it, and check the user guide.

All I see on the Automatic Duck site is Pro Export 4.0 which only supports FCP 7.... where is the Pro Export 5.0 for FCP X support. I'm currently running 10.0.8. Does it not exist anymore??

It broke with one of the early FCPX releases, maybe 10.0.3? If it does exist somewhere it is useless for current versions of FCPX.

Those developers now work for Adobe, trying to mimic FCPX.
AutoDuck is dead, period.
