Hello all,

I am not sure whether or not I am hallucinating....

....In the pre-10.1 versions of FCPX, I am sure that there was some sort of automatic audio fade when between two audio clips. While the purist in me might have sniffed at it, this was particularly useful with, for example, voice-overs, whereby I could quickly remove all the um's and ah's with the blade tool.

No longer it seems. Now it seems, that all the cuts are hard and all the issues that it involves. There are obviously workarounds for this but it does slow me down like mad.

I see no reference to these features (either inclusion or removal) and therefore am asking whether or not I am hallucinating....

Is there some sort of switch that might turn such a fade on or off?

Hi Tom,

I think you must be hallucinating ;) AFAIK there have never been automatic audio fades in FCPX. There are audio handles on each clip, but these were already there pre 10.1.

Actually there always has been and they're still there. Some people love them, some hate. Wish there was an option. If you apply a transition to an edit point and then expand the audio, this is what you see.

I didn't point to it, but the fade handle is still there and is at the end of the clip, not at the end of the fade. It is entirely separate from the transition cross fade.

Ah, you mean the "feature" where the audio automatically fades with the video... yep, that is still there, wether we like it or not.

lol. yeah... fwiw, I think you can work around this "feature" by extending the audio components a frame or so beyond the edit point. Then the "normal' fade handles take over...

You can also get around the autocrassfade by expanding the audio and then applying the video transition. No fade will be applied, and you can collapse the audio with a straight line cut.
