I've been reading tutorials and most of my questions have been answered about 10.1, but I don't quite understand the new Library Backups option in the preference menu. Is there a detailed description/tutorial on this new feature or can someone answer these questions:

1. What exactly is being backed up? If I store my media in the library is it backing that up too (and wouldn't that just make each project take twice as much space on the hard drive).

2. How often does the backup run?

3. How do you restore from the backup?

4. Perhaps most importantly, what is the purpose of the backups? I backup my hard drive every day, so what is this really getting me - I know I must be missing something.

Thanks,

Chris

1. Backups include the database portion of libraries only, not the media files.
2. 15-minutes.
3. Restore from a library backup
a. In the Libraries list, select the library you want to restore.
b. Choose File > Open Library > From Backup.
c. In the “Restore from” pop-up menu, choose a backup from a specific time and date, or click Other and navigate to a different backup file to open. The backup is added as a library in the Libraries list. Note: The backups are standard Final Cut Pro library files, so you can also open them by double-clicking them in the Finder. For more information, see Multiple libraries overview on page 407.

4. Purpose: For example, if you had a crash when color correcting and it was not auto-saved for some odd reason, then you only lose the last 15-minutes of work. I was using 'Backups for Final Cut Pro' with 2-minute intervals and I set the app to only keep the last 20 backups.
