I'm trying to update some older fcpx projects on an external edit drive and I am told to choose another folder because my current selection isn't valid. Ironically, the only folders greyed out are the ones WITH the events and projects in them. Has anyone else run into this? thx

You don't select the folders, you select the drive you want to update.

Got it. I have many jobs on that drive, so I should only put the ones I'm interested in updating into the Final Cut Events and Final Cut Projects folders, yes?

That's generally the best idea. Update in batches making new libraries for the content you want in each library. Depending on how much you have, you could also just suck everything into one library and then organize into new libraries.

That works. This is much better for archiving - just get each client's project in its own library and it's all contained there and easy to move around. The old system was a bit if a headache. Thanks.
