FCP 10.1 Reconnect Media difficulties

FCP 10.1 Reconnect Media difficulties was created by jimnyc
I'm having difficulties with certain files (older DVCPRO HD) reconnecting to the media.
I found a solution, which is to export an XML of the project and then change the UID to the correct media UID and re-import, but this is time consuming.
Can anyone recommend a better way to solve the problem or a tool to use?
Thanks,
Jim

I agree with BenB on this one as I had to put DVCPRO on the naughty codec list. Although FCP7 could use them natively they had to be rewrapped to quicktime files. I think the antiquated metadata handling is what causes the problems. (10 years old now!)
Are these the native mxf files? One experience I had using HVX200 P2 files was really frustrating. Random shots going offline randomly, not reconnecting, you name it. Luckily I had made camera archives of the p2 disk images so I could relink to those, but I couldn't relink to the files in the event.
Do you happen to have untouched copies of the footage backed up? If so it might relink to those.
