Effects/plugins Management

Hi everybody,

During 2013, I've been testing effects from vendors like FCPeffects, Tokyo, FxFactory, etc. (I use FCP X 10.0.9) Now, my effects window is loaded with useless icons. Some are watermarked, others are disabled in the FxFactory application. In the later case, they appear in Final Cut as red icons similar to the clips when FCP X can't find the source datas. Annoying!

Any idea how I could delete them permanently without reinstalling FCP X?

Disabling them all inside the FxFactory application should work for those.

For other vendors, the installer app should have an uninstall option. Otherwise check with the individual vendors for uninstall instructions.

If you disable FxFactories effects from their main application, the icons appear as illustrated on the attached PNG illustration.

Have you quit FCPX before disabling the FxFactory effects and have you restarted FCPX after this?

When you disable one or more FxFactory effects from their plugin manager and you re-launch FCPX you should see the FxFactory icon appear with an exclamation mark in the Dock. Then you get a warning from FCPX that it will restart once more due to a configuration change. Then FCPX quits and when it relaunches again the disabled effects don't show in the Effects Browser anymore.

I have just tried this with disabling FxFactory Pro for FCP 10.1 and it works as expected.
