FCPX export help. was created by Sunne718
I've been trying and searching for days for my export problems and I have yet to find a soluton.
I have FCPX 10.0.8
Problem #1 I cant get my projects to upload to Vimeo or Youtube Via the share button. I run into long wait times. It moves 1% every 15 to 20 mins.
Problem #2 I saved the default project, ran it through compressor and ended up with an hour of darkness after the video ended.
What is the best way to accomplish the highest quality upload to Vimeo and Youtube?
Please help

Update to 10.1 and Mavericks if you can. Renders are faster and overall functionality is much improved.
When you share to Youtube or Vimeo from the timeline you are doing lots of things: converting your edit with all effects, titles etc. to a highly compressed format, and uploading. For short projects this rarely causes problems, for long and/or effects-heavy projects it does. Much also depends on your upload speed.
If your project is long or complex it is better to export a ProRes 422 Master File, then convert the Master File video to H.264 using Compressor or FCPX, then upload the converted file to Youtube or Vimeo. Doing this you at least have control over every step and you will have less issues.

Sometimes I'll sound really smart & then turn around & ask a noob-ish question. Don't worry... that's perfectly normal haha!

So let me make sure I'm understanding this correctly? It's better to compress twice then just going directly to what the final project will be in?

The conversion to ProRes is much faster than H264 compression. Don't think of it as 2 equal conversions.
Once creating a Master ProRes file, much of the conversion overhead is relieved for the effects, etc. which makes the H264 2nd step more efficient.
Plus by creating the master Pro Res you have the highest quality file of your project for archival and for conversion to other formats ready to go.
