How to best integrate iPhone 5S video in FCPx ? was created by Living Smart TV
I find that we often shoot "b-roll" with an iPhone 5S when we're on the road without bringing our normal cameras and would like to use these recordings in FCPx.
Is there an easy (or even automatic) way of getting new images taken and videos recorded with an iPhone 5S into Final Cut Pro X for editing?

You connect the iPhone and import the media, just like anything other camera.

Yeah, that's what we've been doing
I was just wondering if, perhaps, we could sync the files automatically, like....... pulling them from iCloud Photostream, so they're already available when we boot FCPx

Depending on which video app you are using, I would say that using cloud, net or whatever is not going to be your friend when dealing with huge video files from your 5s.
I use Filmic Pro at it's highest res/output settings and download files to computer for edit.
What I'd like to know is if you can import h.264 video into fcp X converting it to Pro Res for ease of editing, or do you need a seperate converter. I've been using Pavtube, which I am hoping withX I'll be able to by-pass that process.

Yes you can import h.264 and select optimize from the import window to have it transcoded to Prores 422. Unless your h.264 is wrapped in some container that FCPX doesn't recognize it should work fine. AVCHD, QuickTime, MP4, etc all work fine.
Creating history....one edit at a time !
