I awoke this morning to find my WD hard rive had lost all the files (actually they are there somewhere but just can't see them).. Read somewhere about a WD problem with mavericks but hey ho.. I am in the middle of retrieving the data but it will certainly not come back in the same order I filed everything away in..

So I'm ready to retook at external storage and backups for my mac.. Anyone got any ideas?

Currently have all WD storage devices ..1 x 3tb USB 3, 2 x 1 tv fw800, 1 500gb fw800, 3 x 500gb usb2

Check the WD site. I'm not certain, but I though I read they updated their drivers.

Thanks, they are not the quickest to respond (unlike this forum who are very good).

I managed to recover everything but its all over the place in all differently titled folders.. guess its the lesser of 2 evils..

I have been reading through this forum on how people utilise external storage and external backups etc

Personally I like Drobos for the simplicity and drive redundancy. Plus you can put in any capacity drives and you can have dual disk redundancy on the five bay models. They also bug you when a drive is failing.

Some will disagree, but they haven't let me down.
