Right-click on the library in the Finder and select show package contents. You'll find a folder with the project name. Inside will be a folder called Shared.

I have now managed to import footage from my Camera (tape), upload it to Final Cut Pro, edit it (in a very basic way!!) and then send it to myself via email....!

I am delighted! Thanks for all your help guys. And I am now on FCP tutorials learning about everything else FCP X can do!
