New Compressor with old FCP?

New Compressor with old FCP? was created by treehouse
Anyone know if the new version of Compressor is compatible with our old FCP Pro? I'm gun shy about upgrading the whole shebang, but I need to reinstall Compressor and wouldn't mind an upgrade there if it works. Have they improved Compressor at all? I'm not reading much on it.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I installed it one one machine and was able to drag all my custom presets into it, it also sees 3rd part plugins such as Cinema Craft MP and others. Still playing, but so far so good.

Further update. Now installed now on two machines, all old presets imported including all 3rd party plugins, DTS, Cinema Craft and QUBE.

I don't think you should upgrade to compressor 4 if you are not using FCPX. The only difference I can find between Compressor 4 and previous versions is that that Qmaster, Apple's work distributer, is now built into Compressor 4 as opposed to a standalone app as in previous versions. But even after all of the hype over 64 bit FCPX and Motion 5, Compressor 4 is still 32 bit. I don't believe "Send to Compressor" in FCP7 will ever link to Compressor 4.
