I remember something like this could be done in FCP7 but wouldn't it be nice if Projects (ex:timelines) could be linked together in a bigger main project. This would be a get way to have different people working on different parts of a bigger Project storyline.

Hi James,

This is perfectly possible as long as you keep your media stored externally (like in FCP).

There are many ways different editors can work on different parts of a project depending on wether the editors are in the same building and they simultaneously access the external media from a central media pool, or they are on different locations and each editor accesses the media from their own local drive.

Here's a very decent layout describing the many different collaborative editing possibilities with the new Library structure in FCPX 10.1:

www.10dot1.co.uk/content/FCPXInASharedEnvironment_FINAL.pdf

Once every editor has finished his part of the Project he just sends the Project XML, or a Transfer Library as decried here: www.fcp.co/forum/4-final-cut-pro-x-fcpx/...roject-sharing#37124 , and you can merge every part of the Project into the Master Project.

Thanks Ronny! Yes, I've read this fine article. It shows that FCPX.1 is ready for the masses ;)

I started keeping everything stored externally and I'm not looking back!

What I meant was is it possible to just take a bunch of Projects and link them together in a Grouped Project. Anyway, the way it is now in X.1 there are many ways to link work together.
