I came across this somewhere recently, and found it immediately useful:
if you have several libraries, but you hold down option (alt) while starting FCPX, it will prompt you for which library you want to open.
This might be handy if:
* you don't want client A to see that you're also working for client B!
* one of your libraries has problems or is on a very slow disk so takes a long time to open
* you just want things a bit quicker and tidier on startup
It's a much quicker alternative to opening FCPX and then closing all the previously-open libraries that you don't want.
You may all have known this, but if not, I hope it's useful to someone else!

Well, I will be the first one to admit I didn't know this and I thank you for the information. Reminds me of good old FCP where you could hold Option pressed while launching to make it start with an empty project. This is even better

Plus you can also choose which recently opened library to open by clicking and holding the FCP X icon in the dock.
You can also open FCP X by dbl-clicking a library icon.

Great info, thanks!
Seems I have been so busy investigating the technical magic behind the update that I have overlooked some of these simple things that can make life so much easier

Another great tip (I think Ben Balser mentioned it somewhere) is that before 10.1, if you did a rolling trim and rolled the Out point all the way to the In point or vice versa, you would end up with a 1 frame clip that wasn't too obvious to spot.
This has changed in 10.1. If you keep your eyes on the Timeline Index you can see that as soon as you roll the In against the Out of the clip or the other way round, the clip disappears from the Index and the timeline as soon as you let go of the left mouse button.
No more stray frames

I should have add that it works with the dock icon. Does it show any libraries, when you click and hold the icon in the dock? Does not matter if the app is open or not.

Ah, yes, that is a Dock function not exclusive to FCP X.
