Anybody running 10.1 on the latest maxed out 27" iMac? (Quad core i7 3.5 with 4GB VRAM) If so, any noticeable speed improvements? Still deciding on my next desktop, between the maxed out iMac or base Mac Pro. I just do broadcast TV editing (1080p, no 4K for at least another year or two) and documentary work - so I'm thinking iMac for now. The iMac should be a big boost for me since I'm working on an early 2011 15" Macbook Pro now.

I have a one of those maxed out iMacs and I also work in broadcast. I can definitely say that the 10.1 update significantly boosts performance. Very fast and fluid.

A maxed out iMac is more than enough for HD broadcast workflows..
the new Mac Pro would be an overkill.
and yes 10.1 feels much snappier and stable.

I have the late 2013 maxed out iMac. With 10.0.9 I had to use proxys with a 4 angle multi cam project in order to get playback and editing running smoothly. Footage was h.264 from Canon 5D and GoPro.

With FCPX 10.1 i can play and edit the multi cam project without proxy media and just use the original media.

I did a stress test last night. Tried to send the multi cam project to Compressor and started a 1080p h.264 render with 2 instances. At the SAME time i could play the 4 angle multi cam project (with the angle viewer open) without any frames dropping!

I have the model with a 512 Gb Flash drive. All media is on a external LaCie thunderbolt Raid0 drive.
