Total Disaster, keeps on Crashing

There are a few good things like the stabilization seems to work much better, but I have had more crashes in the last 24 hours than since the day I got it which was about the day it first came out.
First problem is that it loaded accidentally from the Mac Store. Saw a note that it was out so I clicked on it to see what was new and bingo it just started loading on my 2.8 quad core Mac Pro with 16GB memory. It took my old projects and I guess events and converted them all, but about half these projects crash either when opened or as soon as you do anything to them.
The library deal is really hard to understand. First I thought that one should have the projects and events on different drives if possible, but I guess they now should be in the same library. I have four hard drives and have projects and events on all, but the main HD is causing the most problems.
On some, I suspect that third party effects or transitions may be screwing things up, but not sure. Another problem is that when it crashes it doesn't necessarily open the same project you were working on. In building a new test project, it keeps asking about events from other libraries. Maybe I should put everything in a new library first.

Also some new stuff that I don't see any explanation for. Like the tiny dot that now appears on the red cursor and moves to a title if you have one. What is this? Most aggravating is the little handle under the time line for moving it without the red cursor is now gone.

FCP automatically installed, launched, and upgraded your stuff? Or am I reading that incorrectly. I have a two part article at macProVideo.com explaining Libraries, how they update, how they work, organizational suggestions, etc.

No, keeping events and projects on separate drives was never a recommended workflow.

The dot shows which clip is at the top most of a stack, and that clip with the dot is automatically selected for it's controls to show up in the Inspector, so you don't have to actually select it, just move the playhead, hit the Inspector to do adjustments.

The updated help doc is online and has a lot of good information in it, including a full list of new features.

I use a Magic Trackpad, so all my scrolling is with swipes. But yes, I now see the scroll bars/handles are missing. That can't be right.

I believe that is correct as all projects and events now appear under a New "four star" purple symbol. I do believe I gave it an ok to upgrade, but the system has a label that says updated Projects and all the events now appear under this totally new symbol. I didn't put that there. Just dead tired right now and will let it sit for awhile. but so far very worried.

All these projects are now working properly in 10.1.1. No help from kids at Apple store in Syracuse. They seemed to thing I just landed from Mars. One thing is clear is that original release was one can of worms. At least it didn't bug up any new projects created under 10.1.

To restore the scrolling bar: go to System Preferences > General and set "Show scroll bars" to "Always".
