Step 1.) Open FCPX
Step 2) Close FCPX
Step 3.) Open Garageband
Step 4.) Close Garageband
Step 5.) Open FCPX
once you do this the sound effects will now appear there. I thought it was a joke until I did it and they came back . Hope this helps.

When I upgraded, I moved my 10.0.9 FCPX into a folder, then down loaded 10.1. Not sure if this had any effect. There must be a bug in 10.1 but some say that once they launch Garage Band, close it then FCPX it works the rest of the time for them. Not Me. I hope the Apple team fixes this!!

As a side note, did you install 10.1 over 10.0.9? I moved 10.0.9 into a folder then installed 10.1. That shouldn't have any effect but who knows.

Well I spoke too soon. They are not showing now.
Then I opened FCPX again and they were there. So I don't know. Will fill out the feedback

I tried the protocol you suggested, but it did not work. However, I opened Garage Band (and kept it open) and created a project. Then I opened FCPX and all my sound effects were there again! Yay! Seems they are still there too!
thanks everyone

There has to be some bug, either with PCPX or maybe even Mavericks.
This is very frustrating to say the least. I did send off a note to Apple on this issue.

I was able to show all my sound effects in FCPX (Big Sur) by allowing the app to access all my folders.
Go to Apple > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Full Disk Access and allow FCPX. No need to restart the app.
And voilá. It worked
