Hello everybody,
I've been looking for a solution in the past week but nothing has solved my problem.

I finished my feature film edit and now I have to send it to a factory that will make the color post-process.

I just want to send them (saving them on an External HD) only the clips i used in the timeline, not all the clips.

Most of the source original clips I used in the timeline are from an external HD (fcpx made proxies, aliases and optimized files) and some are from my main internal HD.

In the timeline I see mixed original clips and proxies.

If I use Duplicate Project + used clips, it saves proxies. I just need the original.

I can't use Organize event/project files because all the source media are sized in 700Gb that is too much to be copied into my internal HD.

I know I probably made mistakes because fcpx doubled proxies and transcoded others and I have several files with the same name but different content (already fixed that manually, file by file).
Probably I did a very bad media organization but this was my very first project in FCPX and I wonder to use it for its faster skills.

How can I save only used clip being sure that those are the original ones? So I can send to the Color Factory just an XML file plus the used clips?

This should be the ideal workflow:
1. Convert or be sure that all my timeline is made by original source files stored into an external HD (too big to be copied). Some clips used (I don't know exactly what they are) I have on the internal HD should be also copied in the external HD.
2. Export XML (easy) AND only used clips in that timeline.

Thanks.

Gianco

Duplicate the project with used media to the external drive. Then organize the event on the external drive.

Hello Tom,

I did it but it didn't work.

It says I have already all media organized but I have only aliases on the external HD.

Now I have my project duplicated on the HD but without the original media.

I just want to add them to the HD and then, maybe, transcode what it has not been transcoded yet to optimized ProRes.

Can anyone help me?

Maybe made a mistake.

I tried to organize files clicking on the PROJECT and NOT on the EVENT!

It's now working after I click organize files on the EVENT.

Let's wait..
