My Waveform is Not Reflecting Changes Instantly During Playback, only when Playback Stops. was created by RonPriest
I no longer have the ability to see the effect of my changes instantly on the clip's waveform view during playback. I can hear the audio changes being effected during playback, but I won't see the changes in the waveform until I stop playback. I'm pretty sure this use to work as advertised, but no longer. I've trashed my preferences, does anyone have any better ideas?
I think this is broke in 10.0.9. It's not working on neither of my 2 computers with Mavericks, nor on my old MacPro with Lion, but all machines have FCPX 10.0.9. Can anyone confirm that it's working in 10.0.9 please.

Always worked fine on my 2008 MP and current rMBP, even after the Mavericks update. That is puzzling. What could be causing a data bottle neck?

So you are confirming that it's not working for you either Ben?

Maybe it's not supposed to reflect any changes until you stop playback? Ripples training Lesson 7 Working with a Compressor in the course titled Sound Editing in FCPX Second Edition sure makes one believe that it's supposed to work that way though.

I'm on the same system you are Ron except for a 1 GB video card. This changed for me a couple of updates ago. Don't remember exactly which one but I'm pretty sure it was before 10.0.8 and I was running Snow Leopard then.

Okay, so you are saying it did in fact use to work for you too in real time while looping playback?

I said it has always worked "fine" for me, even after the update, I've never had this issue. The scopes play back in real time, always have, still do, in both the Browser and Timelines.
So, if they're NOT playing back in real time, there is an issue.
What media format?
What specific GPU?

That is correct.
Ben - he is talking about the audio waveform. I think you are talking about the scopes which are fine on my systems.

I'm having the same quirky issue with the waveforms not updating immediately. I've always noticed this behavior with FCPX from the very beginning. I never really worried about it...I just hit pause/play and it updates. I'm on the same machine but more RAM, a Pegasus TB RAID 12TB R6 and not on Mavericks (still on 10.8.5...mid-project delays).

OH, audio waveforms. No, they are not real time updates, never have been. Hoping we see that in an update soon.
