Hi, Has anyone used the app 'Editoid' with fcpx?
I sent the company several emails with no reply.. not sure if they are still in business or what.
Anyway, when i installed their demo version from their web page, the app in system preferences will not open (keeps looping and closing) Mt. Lion and mac pro 5,1.
If anyone has this installed, just wondering how you got it to work.
thanks
kurt

Haven't used it, but that hasn't been updated since April of last year. That means the XML version they were using isn't compatible with FCPX anymore. Not a great sign.

thanks.. i was wondering about the dates i seen on the page as well..
it looked it it would have been nice for production cookie cutter type projects.
i am trying to make little template bits instead with generators, adjustment layers, the audition feature, etc...
each has limitations making it less than 'automated' for duplicating projects but using different clips in each project.. I cant find anything else like 'editoid'
thaks again

Kurt:
We just updated Editoid. Version 1.2.1 is now compatible with Mountain Lion and Mavericks, besides Lion and SL (10.6.
. We also tested it on Final Cut Pro X up to 10.0.9 and it worked normally.
Please download the new version at the trial page. After you install, please quit and reopen System Preferences, or the Start button at Editoid's pane will not activate. Also, you need to have the Templates and In/Out folders configured.
I am sorry for not replying to your messages earlier. Our mail provider had an issue and messages only arrived today. We changed the provider.
We intend to keep up with Editoid's development. We had to slow it down because we are very busy finishing another software/hardware product which we think will be very interesting. It will get into 1.0 status this month, and we pretend to update our english website soon.
That's it. Hope it helps and look forward to hearing from you about Editoid's tests. Feel free to contact me when needed.

Hi jpquerette, Thanks for the new info.
I downloaded 1.2.1 and got the app in system preferences to work now.
However when it runs, it is maxing out one cpu at 100% (editoidDaemon)
How long after exporting a fcpx XML will it usually take before the InOuts folder gets populated?
Probably because the 100% cpu usage, my InOuts folder never gets anything written to it.
I made the Editoid folders in Users/User/Documents/Editoid
In the Editoid folder is a Templates folder and a InOuts folder.
I exported the FCPX Project XML to the Templates folder.
Not sure what info you will need, but I have Mac Pro 5,1 / FCPX 10.0.9 / Mt. Lion
I rebooted the system but upon re-boot, the EditoidDaemon remains still at 100% CPU usage, and nothing written in the InOuts folder.
Any Ideas what is happening? Let me know if you need more info.
When i stop editoid, CPU usage returns to normal
Also i had the previous version of editoid on the system. If there is a special way to uninstall it prior to installing the lastest version, let me know. I will try some uninstalls and reinstalls.
-- I deleted all i could find named editoid and removed it from system preferences.
Then reinsalled the latest version but still 100% CPU usage and no xmls are being written.
Thanks
Kurt

Hi Kurt:
We will analyze the CPU usage issue and get back to you. Please allow me a few days to return.
Just checking: After you export your FCP X Project XML to the Templates Folder, Editoid (if on) should immediately create a new folder inside the In/Out folder with the Project's name. Inside this new folder, there should be two folders, named In and Out.
Now, any FCP X Event XML that you want to use to create a new Project XML should be put in the In folder inside the Project-Named folder inside In/Out. Editoid will then create a new Project XML at the Out folder.
Therefore:
1. Configure the Templates and In/Out folders.
2. Start Editoid.
3. Put a Project XML which you intend to use as a template into the Templates folder.
4. Editoid will create InOut/Project/In and InOut/Project/Out.
5. Now, put Event XMLs in the In folder and Editoid will create Project XMLs and put them at the Out folder for that Project Template.
6. Take them out from the Out folder and open them in FCP.
Are you following these steps?
Best regards,
Joao Paulo Querette

It is not doing this, No new folders or files get created.
I am doing the steps you mention, however nothing works as soon as you get to step 4. So steps 4,5,6 I can not test.
i think the 100% cpu usage is stopping anything from happening.. editoid never really begins to work.
Thanks again, and if you need any more info or files let me know.
