I use to use DVD Studio Pro. But after updating to the newest Mavericks, there are just a lot of breaks in the software and things that are making me want to search for other software.
I do wedding videography and typically use DVD Studio Pro to create my custom, made from scratch, dvd menus and designs. is there any other software out there besides DVD Studio Pro that can do this that isn't Adobe's Encore?
I use Encore at my work, and dislike it very much, and want to know of other options.

The menu button on the DVD remote keeps sending me back to an undesired submenu instead of my main menu (checked the settings in DVDSP and it's saying it should be going to my main menu when the menu button on remotes are pressed)
So just because of these few weird issues, i'm worried of what might come later on down the road with this outdated software that is not going to be guaranteed to work with newer OS updates, so I'm just trying to save myself now by finding an alternative software that will at least be up to date with support and so forth.

Just to add that I have FCS3 and some 32 bit apps that are important to me on a Snow Leopard partition:and there they will stay – until they cease being useful. Hopefully, that's a long time coming.

Adding to the above, you could just run a copy of Mountain Lion on Parallels if you don't want to have a separate partition.

But back to the original question, does anyone have any alternatives for DVDSP?

I assume you have reasonable experience with the software. One of the problems you describe sounds like the end jump is not set properly, or you have some unintended jump to a marker somewhere in the DVD creation parameters.

Also, can we get back to the original question of 'what alternatives are there for DVDSP?'

The only thing comparable is Encore. It is no longer being developed but is available as a CS6 download if you get Premiere Pro CC @ $240 a year subscription.
Just my 2¢, but unless you need Blu Ray authoring it would be a lot more cost effective to run DVD SP on an older OS – on a separate partition or drive,

bradywurtz wrote: Not an end jump issue. End jump works just fine. It's when you press the menu button on the remote. Is there a place you can go in DVDSP to change where the Menu button on the remote takes you?

In the main window, where there are the menu, viewer, and connections tabs, click on the connections tab. In there, there's a drop-down box for 'view,' and you can set it to 'advanced' to see all your connections. In the 'source' column, you should be able to see a disc icon next to 'menu' ... this should be the connection for the menu button. Make sure the corresponding target is your menu (by default, it's 'menu 1'). For the 'Track 1: Menu' source, it should by default connect to the 'same as disc' target. That says that when you press the menu button while the track is playing, it should do whatever you set the menu action to do for the disc. Usually it should just be 'same as disc.' Just check both of these to make sure the menu button has the correct menu as its target. Basically, you're able to set any of these buttons to do almost anything.
I agree, there isn't really a good alternative except for Encore.
