Use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to QuickTime.

I've tried MPEG Streamclip with VOB files on Mavericks and it doesn't seem to want to work with them. I've used Handbreak and then had them optimized in FCPX on import. So if MPEG Streamclip doesn't work, try that out.

I've not had a problem with Streamclip. You need the MPEG-2 playback component from Apple and run the latest version if Streamclip. Wouldn't suggest Handbrake for this as it goes through a double compression in GOP formats.

MPEG Streamclip works fine in Mavericks. Follow the instructions from the Steamclip home page on installing the component.

Hi all,
Thanks for reply.
"Is there any possible way to export direct in FCP X instead of using MPEG STREAM CILP" ?

I used MPEG Stream Clip and i export the '.VOB' File. I done export very well, but am getting difficult about few things...

"THE PROBLEM IS QUALITY LOSS AND WASTING TIME "

Exporting '.VOB' TO '.MOV' .... I Import the '.VOB' in 'MPEG STREAM CLIP' then,

1.TAKING MUCH TIME TO EXPORT.. in MPEG STREAM CLIP.
2.AM NOT ABLE TO SOLVE INTERLACE PROBLEM IN MPEG STREAM..
3.I DO NOT ABLE TO APPLY FILTERS AND WATER MARK.

After Exporting '.VOB' TO '.MOV' ..... I Import '.MOV' files in FCP X.

1.QUALITY LOSS .. (15MBPS Exporting) 720P HD. Obviously second export so loss quality.
2.I can put water mark any font that i want..
3.I solved INTERLACE problem..

Normally I work on RAW footages it takes up to 4 hours exporting time for one hour footage.
Its 'Component Y'CbCr 10-bit 4:2:2, Linear PCM' formate files I export into '.MOV' files.

these days am getting .VOB

VOB (Video Object) is the container format in DVD-Video media. VOB can contain digital video, digital audio, subtitles, DVD menus and navigation contents multiplexed together into a stream form. Files in VOB format may be encrypted.

A couple of comments:

The file is a standard def (480) format. If you blow it up to 720, you will take a quality hit. Keep the SD size.

If you need to de-interlace, do that in FCP, or in Compressor.

What exactly was your FCP7 workflow? What plugin did you use to get your .vob files into FCP7?
