Adding Multiple FCPX effects to Motion

I know how to add single effects from FCPX into motion and how to add multiple clips together once in motion but my problem is I have two effects I purchased that I can't find in the Motion Library. I have combined the two effects in FCPX and they look great, so I now want to merge them in Motion to make them a single effect. How can I do this? The only effects I see in Motion are the ones that come pre-installed with FCPX. Any help or links related to this will be great, everything I've found just talks about opening a single effect in Motion. Thanks

Each "effect" in the FCP X Effects Browser is a single Motion Project. Each one is a stand alone Motion project file. They aren't Motion effect filters, rather, they are Motion projects that FCP X reads as effect filters.

Right-click one in FCP X, and it should give you the option to open it, or a copy of it, in Motion, as the original Motion project file.

So there no way I can combine the two filters /effects in motion? You would think that could be done quite easily.

Well, I'm not sure what you mean by combine two together in Motion. Let's see if we can clarify exactly what you're trying to do.
1- Specifically, name the two effects do you want to combine in to one.
2- Why not just drop both effects on the same clip in FCP?

Dropping them both on the clip is what I've been doing. The two filters are Leo Hans Old Photo and Finisher (by Crumple Pop) Thanks for trying to help me too, much appreciated.

You could try in FCP to right-click on the first effect in the effect browser and choose "Open in Motion" or "Open a copy in Motion". This opens the effect in a Motion project. Leave this as is and leave it open.
Then go in FCP to the next effect in the effects browser and do the same thing here.
You now have two projects open in Motion (the window containing the latter is probably covering the window of the first project)
Now you can make a new project in Motion (now this new one will be on top). Be aware that it has to be of the same type as your other effects (Title or Generator or Transition or Effect)
Move this project window out of the way or minimize it.
Copy all the layers of the first effect, activate the window of the new project and paste them in the new project. To prevent clutter or duplicate layer names add for instance a letter or a number in front of each layer name in the new project. This also helps to identify which layer belongs to which effect when you aren merging it all into a new effect.
Copy all the layers of the second effect over to the new project and do the same.
Tweak your new effect to your liking. Be aware that you probably only need one "Effect Source" layer, so you have to fiddle around a bit to get the desired look.
Save your newly created effect with a new name and you're done.
I must admit that I haven't tried to combine two effects into a new one myself, but this would be the way I would approach it.

I hope it will work for you.

Cheers,
Robbert-Jan

That would work, opening both in Motion, copy the layers in one, paste in the other, save as a new effect.

But, since they are third party effects, if they have any part written in FxPlug, you won't be able to open them in Motion.

Fill out the feedback form. I've requested "Effects Bundles", like the Filter Packs we had in FCP 7.

Thank You Robert! I won't be home for a few days to try this but I think that it will work. I've already opened both effects individually In Motion, so I can't see why I couldn't do what you've explained.thanks a heap guys, I'll let you know how I go. Skot

You might have to check any rigged and/or published parameters. Since I haven't tried this workfow, I can't predict how these will be copied

No, published parameters do not copy over. I just tried it.
