Anyone have an answer as to why Apple didn't inlcude the option to export by in & out point? What if I just need to export the first half of a project? If there is a way to do this without creating a new timeline/project then I'd love to read it.

Here's how. Set an in and out point (select a range) in the project. Export it.

What version of FCP X are you using?

10.09. Thanks I'll try that out. Never noticed it. Seemed like the program would only export entire timelines

Nope, exports ranges (I/O) now as well. Be aware that it'll look like only the primary storyline is selected, but everything in the range will export. :-)
