FCPX will not share. was created by bildix
Earlier this week I created a topic stating that my FCPX would not share anything. Last night it burned a disc. So I wrote that my troubles were over. And thanked the responders.

One disc. that's it. Now, all I get is "QuickTime error - 0". I get that same window whether I try to burn a disc or try to create a master file.

I appreciate any help I can get.

Hi Bill,

Quicktime error-0 can indicate:

- your system drive does not have enough space left

Make sure your system drive as well as the drive where your FCPX projects and events are stored have at least 15% free available space. A 1 TB drive must always have at least 150GB free. If you have enough drive space left:

- you may have corrupt render files

Delete ALL render files for your project. You don't need them to burn a DVD or create a master file. Make sure to empty your trash after deleting the files, then try exporting again.

First export a master file (you always need to keep at least one full quality master version for any project, just in case something happens to the original edit). If this works: import the master file in FCPX and create a DVD from the master file. This will be much faster than creating a DVD from the raw edit.

As a side note: when you edit ALWAYS have background rendering turned OFF, you don't need this for anything and it screws up your render files.

If trashing the render field does not solve your problem:

- you may have a corrupt edit

Create a new project, copy the contents of the problematic project and paste them into the new one. Then share the new project as a master file.

I'm guessing it's the second possible cause on Ronny Coutens' list…a corrupt render.

Thank you for your reply.

I did as you instructed. Dumped every render file I could find. And now I can burn discs. But I still can't make made a master file. I get a .mov file on the desktop but Quick Time 7 says it's not a .mov file, while VLC just starts blinking like crazy.

And my version is 10.0.9

Hi Bill,

When you get a file for which QT player says it is not a .mov file something must have gone wrong during the creation of the file. Either the exported file is corrupt or it is incomplete.

Delete the .mov file from your desktop and empty the trash. Then try sharing a master file again.

- Make sure your master file export settings are correct. For optimal quality set your video codec to Source.
- Make sure to wait until the sharing has finished completely (the FCPX background tasks counter should show 100%) before you try to open the file in QT player.

Hey Ronny,

Did as you instructed. It failed again. It read: "an error occurred when creating frame 2982 (error -1)." But that number changes each time.

You mention a progress bar. No window comes up while the file making is running its course. I always thought that was unusual.

I also found the progress window button. Next to the time display.

Have you checked the Prevent App Nap box in Final Cut Pro Info?

Have searched for five of the error frames and found no consistency. The numbered frame would occur anywhere in the clip. And, if I keep getting different frame number errors, how come the progress went over some of the earlier numbered error frames without an abort?
