SD Card reader on Macbook Pro Retina Final Cut Pro X 10.0.9 error

Hi there,
I've recently updated to mavericks on my Macbook Pro with Retina 15inch, running Final Cut Pro X 10.0.9.
When I insert an SD card into the computer (it shows fine in the Finder) and launch Final Cut it loads all the usual projects and events, and then quits. If I remove the SD card, there are no problems when loading Final Cut.
Anyone else come across this or have any suggestions to fix?
Thanks, Rob

Does the SD card have copies of the FCPX Events and Projects? FCPX quits when it sees duplicates.

Nope, afraid not; it's a standard formatted card from a Sony video camera.

Create a folder on a drive.
Call is "Card 1" or something that does NOT have the word video in it.
Copy the entire contents of the card into that folder.
Eject the card.
Does that change anything?
Do you have a second card to test with?
