New graphics and text tracking tool from Coremelt:

coremelt.vzaar.me/1404932

From an email from Roger Bolton from Coremelt:

Many of you asked to be able to track graphics or text using SliceX. We now have a new product in beta for FCP X called TrackX. TrackX allows you to track text or insert graphics using the same Mocha tracking technology as SliceX.

please apologize my ignorance - but what is the difference (in your demo) to a 'simple' 4-point-tracking, which Motion5 offers out-of-the-box too?

Made a rough demo for a friend a while ago:

…

What Motion is missing, and my demo dramatically shows, its lack of ability to track 3-dimensional - no 4-corners, but 3-axis tracking. Afaik (I'm a hobbyist), THAT is the main USP of Mocha, isn't it? (jealousy peering to beyond-my-budget AfterEffects+Mocha)…

So, maybe, instead of a 'flat' iPad, you should demo something like which is asked for in this thread:
www.fcp.co/forum/4-final-cut-pro-x-fcpx/...s-text-tracking-help

where (around 00:11) some text is sticked in 3D-space to some object.... THAT would be impressive! ;)

I think the title of the thread is the key here :)

People really do want to do more things directly inside of FCPX instead of Motion5. Kudos to 3rd party developers who are up to the challenge.

You are correct that the example you showed can be accomplished inside of motion. However Sirdavidabraham pretty much nailed it - the core melt tracker allows you to corner pin within Final Cut Pro. Saves the extra steps of importing footage into Motion, tracking it, exporting footage out of motion and cutting it into Final Cut Pro.

As for '3 axis tracking' that's a job for a 3D tracker. Motion currently doesn't offer this feature. You could try Mocha 3, Nuke, After Effects CC or Blender if you need such a tool

… that's why I was asking for a DIFFERENT demo - a few hundred years ago, I was in 'marketing'; the shown example in the OP does NOT show the potential of this plug-in … IF it is, as SliceX, based upon Mocha.

Apologizes for making my point not clear enough - … (lost in translation) … if TrackX allow effects as in the thread I linked to - THEN me happy bunny ... or what is the phrase??

Even if motion offered flawless round tripping for this type of thing, I'd still rather just as it as an effect to individual clips. I have the slice x suite and I love it. It's one of the best FCPX plugins out there for less than $100. Track X will probably come in at the same price and I will buy it the second it comes out. Keep up the good work CoreMelt, I love giving you my money!

Every time in edit something now, I think of all the ways I could use this plugin, either for its intended use, or some other creative way. The CoreMelt plugins are just fun to use. Does anyone use any of their other plugins other than slice X?

Lots of them all the time. Top quality stuff. I still feel that Lock & Load out performs the built-in stabilization, too.

There is no official mention of the release at the Coremelt site yet (as of this writing) which is kind of strange, but it can be demoed or purchased from their store for $99:
www.coremelt.com/component/content/artic...50-online-store.html

That's odd... Maybe it was activated on the store by accident early? It also says that people who bought slice x with mocha get a discount when they enter their license key, but when I enter mine it doesn't work? Sounds like it's time to send them an email. I'll let you guys know what I find out.

Its now on their main page and I just bought it. Using your SliceX with Mocha serial number now works for the discount.

Ben, you were right, my socks have been knocked off and I was able to track them with TrackX as they flew off my feet.

I did a small test between TrackX and MochaPro and I must say I'm impressed with the quality of the track. Its not a replacement for MochaPro but will definitely save some time on less complex things.

Is there any way that TrackX or SliceX can be used for stabilizing footage? I know that Lock & Load is the CoreMelt plugin intended for stabilization, but it doesn't have Mocha, so I'm curious what could be done with the Mocha pair -- even if it required some workaround.

Julian, did you get your discount coupon to work from your SliceX purchase? If not then please email us at support at coremelt dot com

rgilman, no these products can't be used for stabilizing footage. Lock & Load is our stabilizer.
