Audio and Video import as expanded

Lately all of my video and its associated audio are opening in the timeline as expanded. In the Inspector the Audio Channel ConfigurationI is unavailable for the selected clip. There doesn't seem to be a way to collapse the audio and video. I record my video on a Focus Enhancement FS4ProHD drive from a Canon XH A1 video camera. Instead of importing from the HD I instead copy the files to a folder on the RAID and then do my import from that folder. Also I notice that the timecode on all of my clips now are starting somewhere in the 23 hour instead at 00:00:00;00. Anyone have an idea why any of this is happening.

Sounds like you are opening the clip itself into it's own timeline, which yes, shows audio and video separate. Is that what you're doing?

Yes I realized what I was doing wrong. Still baffled why my timecode starts 23 hours.

That would be the timecode the camera gave it, if you are looking at it's own Timeline. Have you verified timecode settings in the camera? If you are creating a Project you can customize what the timecode starts at.

I have been editing mostly with compound clips and not creating too many projects.
