Hi,
I hope to submit my film to some film festivals, the below is the general requirements

Technical Sepcifcations
• Accepted formats: .mp[e]g / .vob / .avi / .mov / .mp4 (m4v)
• Recommended codecs: MJPEG, Apple ProRes, H264 (bitrate if possible) > 2MBit/s and
uncompressed (very large file)
• Resolution: PAL and NTSC (as well as SECAM) from 720x400px up to HD material of 1920x1080px
• Audio: 48kHz sound PCM (only uncompressed) / MP3 / AAC (if possible > 160 kBit/s)

It seems that the following codec is preferred:
H.264 with AAC or uncompressed audio (we strongly recommend this format)

When importing my media and setting my project properties which custom settings should I choose to unable me to meet these requirements?

Thanks in advance,

Simon

You should be able to export to just about all of those from just about anything you can edit in FCPX.

While FCPX can export directly to some of them right out of the (virtual app store) box, you can set up Compressor presets to do the rest if you really need it.

H264 & ProRes are supported presets from FCPX so don't sweat it.

You import and edit what your media is, not what you want it to be. What format and specs are you shooting?

Hi Tom,
My specs are:
Dimensions - 1920-1280
Codecs H.264, Linear PCM

I shot on a canon mk 2, and they are MOV files (MVI)

Thanks,

Simon

Great. If your computer is fast enough, simply import the H.264 and edit it and export a master file in H.264. Unfortunately when you export H.264 there is no option for exporting uncompressed audio.

Is there no way around this problem, do you know how this affects audio quality?

H264 + AAC should be fine and it's on their list of supported formats.
