Get a decent external drive (no USB2!!) and move your iTunes library to that drive. That will already free up a good amount of drive space. But most important when you work with FCPX: never store any Events or Projects on your internal drive. If you have FCPX Events or Projects on your internal drive: move them to a fast external one.

Ah, I see what you mean. "Other" indicates any files that are not audio, movies, photos or applications. So this can be anything you can imagine. If your boot drive gets filled with Other files without you knowing where these files come from it's time to clean up your system. Start with the most obvious things:

1. Shut down your computer and start it up again.

2. Empty your Trash

3. Empty your iPhoto Trash. This is not the same as your regular Trash. You can empty the iPhoto Trash by R-clicking on iPhoto’s Trash icon and choosing Empty Trash from the contextual menu.

4. Clean up Safari, mail downloads, log files, etc...: www.macworld.com/article/1158659/springclean.html

5. If after this you still see a lot of space taken by Others you can use a dedicated application to clean up your system drive. These are a few examples:

macpaw.com/cleanmymac

Hi
I have been using DasiyDisk it scans your drive and once you have found what you want to remove just drag it in app and voila gone. I use it all the time to keep both my macs nice and clean.

I have a couple of friends who used CleanMyMac 2 and it really messed up their systems. I'd stay away from it.
