Just saw a blog update (that was written in late October) by Philip Hodgetts. He talked about the way Mavericks utilizes GPUs. His one year old MacBook Pro running Mavericks seems to have a nice boost due to the OpenCL with both integrated and discreet GPUs.

I can't do serious hardware upgrade (such as the new Mac Pro) for at least 12 months but if a second video card can be used under Mavericks and the next FCPX I will still be a happy camper
Of course having Mavericks using both GPUs on older computers doesn't mean FCPX will do the same...but I am still hoping!
