Delete e.g. a Transition out of the browser was created by Jan Kisjes
Hello everybody,
I'm new here and apologize in advance if my english in not what it should be.
I have a question about FCPX. I have some great Transitions and Titles downloaded. Some of them are not good and I would like to permanently delete them from my FCPX browsers. Some maps I can see in my Home - Motion Templates, but some, I would like to delete are not in my Motions Templates map.
I already tried to remove a plug-in folder in my Motions Templates map, but then I saw in the FCPX viewer and in the browser a red 'sign' with a warning that data is not present. So, my questions are:
1. How can I permanently delete e.g. a Transition from my Home-Motion Templates without getting all the warnings in my screen?
2. Where are the effects, not in my home-Motion Templates are, then?
and how can I delete e.g. a Transition out of a 'hidden' map?
3. Can I add in my FCPX browser also a list and name it e.g. my favorites?
Thanks in advance for your help,
big huggy from Dalfsen, Netherlands,
Jan Kisjes

I assume, you're talking about effects from FxFactory, right?
To de-install or switch-off such plugins, you have to launch the FxFactory.app in your app-folder. Uncheck the ones, you don't want to be listed in FCPX …-

Hey Jan, welcome to the forum.
1. As Karsten says: if the Transitions/Effects are part of the FX Factory collection you can de-activate them in the FX Factory app. But there are also other places where FCPX stores Effects. It would be good to know exactly what kind of effects or which collection you mean so we can tell you if and how you can hide them.
2. Yes you can create Favorites in your Effects, Transitions, Titles and Generators browsers. To do this you go to your Movies > Motion Templates folder and inside the Transitions/Effects... folders create a Favorites folder. Then copy your favorite Transitions/Effects... into this Favorites folder
When you launch FCPX The Favorites folder will appear in your Effects/Transitions.. browser

Hi Ronny,
thanks for the reply. So question 3 is answered. Great and thanks. Now first of all I habe to tell you that I didn't find your mentioned FX Factory app. Si I have no idea where I can find it. Although I have only official programs, I should be have one. Please tell me how I can get the App. Ronny, I think it is not professional to mention names op developers on a open platform like this. I don't want to hurt people, who are doing there very best to create beautiful tools. So, if you can tell me how I get the app, I can try to solute it myself

Hi Jan,
FX Factory is a collection of plugins that you can purchase. If you don't know FX Factory this means you don't have the collection, so you won't find the app in your Applications folder.
But I understand your point. If you prefer you can send me an e-mail at ronnycourtens(at)mac(dot)com telling me which plugins you wish to remove. If I know them I can tell you where they are located and if and how they can be removed from your browser. I have a test system for our company on which I have installed nearly all existing commercial or free FCPX plugins, so I think I might point you in the right direction. You can e-mail me in Dutch, that's my native language.
