I edit local government Council meetings that run several hours.
I'm using a Sony hxrmc50u and hxrnx30u camera to record.
When importing to FCPX I select Create Optimized video only.
But the file size is HUGE.
I download several meetings a day. I'm on the edge of my HDD space. Is there a recommended setting and still keep broadcast quality? (Our station is not HD) Do I have to edit in RS422?
Thanks
Bill

If your system is fast enough you shouldn't need to optimize AVCHD media.

….and even if it isn't fast enough, create proxy files, edit with proxy and then switch back to the original media for final export. System speed is not as important on final export because it doesn't have to be real time. This is exactly what proxy is for and the files and much smaller.
