Short-time listener, first time caller....Glad I ran across fcp.co. Great information, and very helpful!

I have an issue with Mavericks and FCP X. I bought a MacBook Pro in July which had FCP X, Motion 5, and Compressor 4 already installed - and primarily why I bought this particular MacBook pro. I upgraded to Mavericks when it came out. I now cannot Share/Export Media. I've tried a number of different methods, but when I click command+E it acts like it will do something, and then it dies. I checked through the forums and saw a bunch of stuff about FCP 10.0.9 and 10.0.6 working with Marvericks, but I am running 10.0.1. I'm not able to upgrade to 10.0.9 without paying for it b/c the computer came pre-loaded. Has anyone running 10.0.1 ran into any problems?

I've prevented the "App Nap" as suggested in another forum post, but no luck. Also...Compressor also dies when loading (or when I send the movie to compressor from FCP). Motion 5 works fine until command + E. Then it has the same behavior as FCP X where it will not render and no error message.

I tried to rollback to Mountain Lion using my Time Machine backup from last week, but my boot drive says it doesn't have enough space to restore (which seemed odd that it wouldn't just wipe the drive and restore automatically -- but I'm a converted PC user, so maybe I just don't know the OS well enough).

Thanks for letting me ramble here. If you have any suggestions (other than "buy a new mac"), I'd love to give them a try.

Cheers!

You need to buy the software. The software cannot be sold or transferred except through the App Store.

Thanks, Tom. So that sounds like the issue then? Mavericks isn't compatible with FCP 10.0.1? I assume Motion 5 and Compressor are using shared rendering components which is causing the problem with those as well?

The current versions work. I haven't seen reports about older versions of Motion 5 and Compressor 4.

Here's what you need with Mavericks:
Final Cut Pro X 10.0.9
Motion 5.0.7
Compressor 4.0.7

It certainly was a version issue with Motion. I bought and downloaded the latest version of Motion, and all works well with it. I am now going to do the same for FCP X.

Thanks for the advice!

10.0.1 is also what we all would consider iMovie Pro. 10.0.9 is the real FCPX, it's totally worth it, but I'd see about doing the trial of it first because a new version will be released in December and we don't know if it's going to be a paid upgrade...
